A Bit About Me

Have you ever wondered what is a GIS professional (manager, analyst, technician, etc)?  Come to think about it, what is a GIS?  GIS is an acronym for Geographic Information System and it deals with maps, location-based information and is used by nearly everyone whether you know it or not.

I’m starting this thing called a BLOG (new to me so bear with me) to help explain what it is I do at my current place of employment, Linn County, Iowa.  The County seat is Cedar Rapids and it just so happens our dot on the map become rather active in 2008 due to flooding among many other things in the past.   I by no means proclaim myself as an expert in my field, however I have gathered up a little experience since 1992 when I graduated from Northwest Missouri State University.
